Sometimes we create tin tackers that stop us in our tracks. The print, the shape, the emboss, all add a creative element that really makes the sign pop! Then we added a clear coat, which is standard for our signs unless a matte look is requested. The two biggest factors that effect the price our your metal sign is (1) the size & (2) the quantity.

Sizes:

We buy our metal in bulk and it is usually cut to 4' X 4' , 6' X 4' or 8' X 4' sheets. So we like choose sizes for the signs that fit well and have good yields. However we can quote any size a customer requests. So the larger the sign the higher the price for material. 

Material:

 The most popular material we use is .024 White Coated Aluminum. This is also the most cost efficient material to choose for your project. However some projects require a stiffer and sturdier piece of material. We offer a variety of thicknesses, steel or aluminum, and we also have natural (silver look) aluminum. The thicker the material the more expensive the project will be. 

Shapes:

We push all of our production through our laser machines. This way we don't have to charge anything extra for custom shapes. We sued to have to die out the signs with custom made dies but with our improved system we can cut costs. There are special circumstances where we have to die cut the signs but we try to avoid that if we can. 

Emboss: 

We charge  a one time fee to create the emboss plate. This fee is only charged on your first order for that specific sign design. We even let customers use a common emboss plate that matches multiple designs in order to save money. 

Printing:

Majority of our work is pushed through our digital printers. However, we do offer screen printing and digital printing for all our jobs. Screen printing involves more labor, materials, and set up so for lower quantity jobs it can be more expensive. We do not screen print 4 color process jobs anymore, those are strictly digital print. We have the ability to digitally print 5' X 10' signs and screen print even larger signs. Certain inks like metallic, neon, or very vibrant colors are only screen printed because we can't recreate those with digital inks. 

Quantity: 

For most of our orders we like to keep an order minimum of 25 signs. There are special circumstances where we will allow 1 piece orders. We also like to keep the quantities in 25 piece increments however, we can completely customize your quantity range. There is no maximum sign quantity you can order, the more the merrier.

Dimensional signs are one of our specialties. These signs are great for anniversaries or big events that you want stand out merchandise for. We basically create 2 separate custom metal signs and create a way to attach the 2 pieces together. These signs are visually appealing and pop off the wall. We love to take customers' ideas and bring them to life. Our head graphic artist is great at producing a 3D model so our customers can visually see what the sign will look like prior to production. 

Commonly used for nostalgic reproduction signs, memorabilia, and hanging signs. Although steel is not as durable outdoors as aluminum signs, steel is a very economical and dependable alternative. Steel signs are also great for magnetic signage such as menu boards and production schedules. We stock 27G steel for tacker signs, large wood back frame signs, and reproduction related signs. We also have 24G and 18G available for larger hanging signs. 

Natural clear brushed aluminum is an attractive substrate mostly used for indoor applications. This material is very popular for counter display signs, hanging plaques, and tacker signs. Also combining our transparent inks and embossing really add a visual impact to your sign. We stock .024 natural finish aluminum. But .032 and .040 are also available upon request. 

Scioto signs stocks and prints on .024, .032, .040, .063, and .080 white and natural aluminum. Our aluminum is coated with a white or clear satin polyester coating suitable for screen and digital printing inks. We buy 48" or 36" coil widths that are mostly sheeted down to 6', 8', or 12' in length. Aluminum is the most ideal material for outdoor signage use. For embossed custom shape signs we generally use .024 or .032 materials. For applications that require added strength and rigidity, we use .063 or .080 substrates. 

Stamping the metal sign raises specific parts of your artwork. This makes the sign stronger and more attractive. There are 2 types of embossing. 

Soft embossing generally is used for larger signs to create a pillow-like appearance. Although our standard soft embossing involves 1 level of raised artwork, we can also create double level emboss tooling. For soft emboss plates we use HDF and carve out the material using a CNC router. 

Sharp embossing is generally used for smaller nameplates and finer detailed artwork. when stamped, it creates a very crisp or sharp edge on the artwork that is raised.  For sharp emboss plates we use magnesium and carve out the material using a CNC router.
